Chandmari police arrested five thieves, stolen goods recovered in Guwahati

GUWAHATI: Chandmari police arrested five thieves from an abandoned house at Gandhibasti near a rail line. The five thieves have been identified as Safiqul Islam and Kayem Ali, both hailing from Dhubri; Jahirul Ali, hailing from Barpeta; Mehboob Ali, hailing from Mankachar; and a delinquent, hailing from Darrang. The five admitted before the police that they had looted Panchabati Ashram on April 27. The police recovered a number of brass utensils stolen by them from Panchabati Ashram. A case (359/2020 under Section 457/380) has been registered in that connection. The five were produced before the Chief Judicial Magistrate Court that sent them to police remand.
