Chandmari police rescues 25-year old girl from Gandhi Basti

GUWAHATI: The Chandmari police rescued a 25-year old girl from Gandhi Basti on Thursday who has been allegedly forced to work as domestic helper by one Sabana Sultana. According to a police source, the victim, who hails from Tulsibari of Rangia under Kamrup district was brought to Sabana’s Gandhi Basti residence with a fake address a few years back. Allegedly, she has been physically tortured over the past few years for which she suffered severe injuries on her eyes and other parts of the body. Recently, the victim managed to escape from the Sabana’s residence and took shelter in a nearby house from where the nightmare came to the limelight. Meanwhile, a case has beem registered.
