Guwahati: The prime accused allegedly involved in a robbery at Chatribari was killed in the police firing in Assam's Darrang district on Wednesday.
The deceased dacoit was identified as Taijuddin Ahmed.
As per reports, police in Sipajhar carried out an operation to nab him, but as Ahmed tried to escape and retaliated, the police team opened fire on him.
Notably, on April 4, 2022, a sensational daylight robbery took place in the city, with a group of masked intruders robbing the flat of a Fancy Bazar-based businessman at the Kiranshree Residency apartment complex on the HS Road at Chatribari.
Four robbers entered the fourth-floor flat of one Gautam Chajjer in the afternoon, while one robber waited outside, and looted all the cash and gold ornaments kept in the flat after intimidating the occupants – two women and two children – with weapons.
The robbers hoodwinked the security guard by saying at the time of their entry that they had been sent by the owner of the flat to collect some goods for his business establishment.
