GUWAHATI: “Knowledge is the power attained through experience. That is why the power of knowledge must be transferred to one’s work life. Spiritual awareness is important for a noble mind. The young generation must propagate the humanistic values through spiritual awakening.” Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal said while inaugurating the guest house of North Guwahati branch of Auniati Satra and laying the foundation stone of the Kalakshetra of the Satra at North Guwahati on Thursday, a communiqué said.

Saying that the Satradhikar of Auniati Satra Pitambar Dev Goswami has been able to spread spiritual awareness in the society both within and outside the country, Sonowal stated that spirituality is a must for instilling discipline in the society and for leading a peaceful life. Acknowledging Pitambar Dev Goswami’s role in spreading the light of knowledge in the society, the chief minister said that without human values no society can prosper and people must create an environment conducive for emotional well being and natural serenity through spiritual power.

Shadowed by superstitious beliefs, Sonowal called on the teachers and parents to make efforts to nurture good human beings as the society cannot progress in the true sense without good people. The ideals of Mahapurush Sankardev, Madhabdev, Damodardev and Aniruddhadeb must be followed to take the society forward, he said. The chief minister also appreciated Auniati Satra for donating 12 bigha land for building the stadium at Dhing in Nagaon. He said that Dhing’s daughter Hima Das has highlighted the strength of Assamese people at the world stage and even Prime Minister Narendra Modi has lavished praise on Hima for her achievement.
