GUWAHATI: Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal has said that the leaders of the AASU (All Assam Students’ Union) meeting Rahul Gandhi is a sad state of affairs.

A team of the AASU met AICC (All India Congress Committee) president Rahul Gandhi recently with the plea to the Congress to oppose the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill, 2019 in the Rajya Sabha.

Talking to newsmen in Guwahati on Wednesday, Sonowal said: “The Congress is a party that opposed the Assam Agitation. It even introduced the IM(DT) Act in the State. Corruption and illegalities of the Congress governments in the past affected Assam the worst. The AASU approaching the president of such a party is a sad reflection on Assam.”
