Assam Chief Secretary TY Das orders probe

GUWAHATI, July 19: Assam Chief Secretary TY Das has requested the Director General of Police (DGP) Kuladhar Saikia to probe an allegation leveled against her by Abdul Ahad Choudhury, the prime accused of the Barak Valley coal scam within 7 days. Notably, after his arrest, Choudhury alleged that he had contact with the Chief Secretary. Moreover, he also mentioned that the Chief Secretary issued directives in the matter of transportation of coal from Meghalaya to Barak valley. “I do not remember if I ever met or have known anyone called Abdul Ahad Choudhury; neither I ever issued directive to transport coal from Meghalaya. The accused must be giving such false statements resorting to some fake documents,” the Chief Secretary said in a release.

Meanwhile, the Chief Secretary said that the accused Ahad, who is presently under police custody, and also some of his accomplices are trying to baffle or mislead the police in its investigation, the release added.
