Child abuse by doctor coupl Dr. Walliul Islam and Dr. Sangeeta Datta: Another suspect arrested
GUWAHATI: Another suspect has surfaced in the ongoing child abuse case involving the doctor couple, Dr. Walliul Islam and Dr. Sangeeta Datta, who allegedly harassed and sexually assaulted both of the children. The accused, identified as Utpala Basu, was arrested by the police. For the last three days, she has been on the run and surrendered on Friday night. She was produced in court and that sent her to five days of police custody.
It has been alleged that Utpala Basu arranged both kids for the doctor couple. Based on Utpala’s confession, two other women were detained on Saturday. One was arrested in Maligaon and the other in Dhirenpara. According to a source, both women are Asha workers.
According to another source, the girl child was bought from Barpeta, and the place from which the boy child was brought is yet to be known.
The police have suspected that there was money involved in the whole case. Based on the evidence, the police have intensified the investigation.
