Citizenship Amendment Act: 250 Posts Detected as Provocative Ones by Assam Police

GUWAHATI: Around 250 social media posts during the anti-CAA (Citizenship Amendment Act) agitation have been identified as provocative ones by the Assam Police that has been studying 600 other posts by employing experts. The State police force has placed the social media under surveillance, police sources said.

According to the police, the posts include hate speeches, provocative statements, VDO clips, photographs etc. From where the posts have been generated and to whom are also under investigation. A source in the State police force said, “Experts have been engaged to study and analyse 600 other posts, apart from the 250 posts identified as provocative ones. It is not yet to be ascertained if the 600 posts are provocative or not. The mode, purpose etc of the posts will be known only after their thorough analysis by experts. Many social media accounts have also been placed under surveillance.” Meanwhile, as many as 31 cases have been registered in the State against provocative statements, leading to the arrest of 11 people.
