City residents stage protest

GUWAHATI, Oct 13: In protests against the Railway authority’s decision to close the Cornel J Ali Road near Lakhtokia, various local residents and organizations staged a protest demonstration on Saturday at 2 No Railway Gate. The protest demonstration was followed by a public meeting in which a new organization in the banner of Modhyo Guwahati Kalyan Samity, Lakhtokia, was formed to carry forward their protest. The meeting was attended by Guwahati Electric Merchants Association, Ram Mandir Lane Association, Lakhtokia Merchants Association, All Guwahati Traders’ Association and Lakhtokia Masjid Committee.

Meanwhile, the gathering also decided to submit a memorandum on October 15 to the Kamrup metro deputy commissioner, GMDA, Assam Disaster Management cell, Local MLA, GMC commissioner, Manager Railway, Railway Minister Sri Rajen Gohain.
