Closing Ceremony on Swachhata Hi Seva Held

GUWAHATI: On the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti and Swacch Bharat Divas, Swacch Bharat Mission (Gramin) Assam organized the closing ceremony of Swacchata Hi Seva at Numalijalah Parade Ground, Amingaon on Tuesday. The occasion was graced by PHED Minister Rihon Daimari, Kamrup (R) Deputy Commissioner Kamal Kumar Baishya, Chaygaon MLA Rekibuddin Ahme and many other dignitaries.

Speaking on the occasion, PHED Minister Rihon Daimari said, “Till today, more than 8 lakhs people including students have participated in the Swacchata Hi Seva and this programme has turned into a ‘Public Mission’. He further said that nine districts of Assam were converted to open defecation free during this period. The campaign culminated as a precursor to the birth anniversary celebrations of Mahatma Gandhi and also to mark the celebration of the 4th anniversary of ‘Swachh Bharat Mission’.
