Alleged question paper leak in SI exam a non-issue: SEBA

GUWAHATI: Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Monday directed the Assam Police to adopt a sympathetic and humanitarian attitude and take steps for the expeditious release of 36 youth who were detained by the police while they were staging a demonstration in front of the Assam Police headquarters recently to demand immediate announcement of the results of the recruitment examination of constables.

It may be noted that the youths who are reportedly job aspirants of the constable of Assam police were staging demonstration in front of the DGP Office at Ulubari demanding immediate announcements of their results.

The 36 police job aspirants who were arrested on April 19 for trying to stage a protest demonstration in front of the DGP's office at Ulubari to demand immediate announcement of the results of the recruitment examination for constables which was held recently, were produced in court on Saturday after four days in custody.

The court remanded three of them to another two days in police custody and the remaining 33 to judicial custody.

SEBA REBUTTAL: Meanwhile, the Secondary Education Board, Assam (SEBA), has dismissed as a non-issue allegations that the question paper of the recruitment examination 2022 for sub-inspectors was reportedly leaked from a WhatsApp group namely 'Target AP SI- 2022'.

SEBA said in a statement that the question paper was posted on social media only after the examination ended at 12 noon.

SEBA termed the episode as an attempt by vested interests to mislead the candidates and assured that no irregularity has tainted the examination.

In a related development, the Kampur police has detained one Pintu Gohain for questioning in connection with posting of the question paper on social media.
