CM Himanta Biswa Sarma welcomes drop in fuel prices

GUWAHATI: The price of petrol came down to Rs 96.01 per litre and that of diesel decreased to Rs 83.94 per litre in the city following yesterday's cut in excise duty by the Central Government.

Meanwhile, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma welcomed the Centre's decision to reduce excise duty on fuel and tweeted: "My deep gratitude to Adarniya PM Shri @Narendra Modi ji for his directive to cut excise duty on petrol and diesel. Earlier, following his directive, BJP-ruled State Governments had reduced taxes on fuel. Happy to note that fuel prices in Guwahati are now among the cheapest in India."
