Days after the question paper of the written exam for 597 posts of sub-inspector in the Assam Police was leaked and authorities canceled the test, Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal directed the State Level Police Recruitment Board (SLPRB) Chairperson Pradeep Kumar to re-conduct the examination within a month.

While taking stock of the developments after the cancellation of the exam, the Chief Minister in a review meeting at his official residence Kharguli directed Kumar to conduct the examination in the most transparent manner and declare results at the earliest. Sonowal also instructed Kumar to make sure that no such anomalies take place while conducting the re-examination.

Further, Sonowal directed Assam DGP Bhaskar Jyoti Mahanta to identify the culprits behind the conspiracy ruining the recruitment process and give severe punishment to them as soon as possible. DGP Mahanta also informed the Chief Minister about the steps taken by the Assam Police to apprehend the nexus behind the conspiracy.

Along with SLPRB Chairperson Pradeep Kumar and DGP Bhaskarjyoti Mahanta, Chief Minister's Media Adviser Hrishikesh Goswami, Chief Secretary Kumar Sanjay Krishna, Additional Chief Secretary in charge of Home Department Jishnu Baruah, ADGP (Law & Order) GP Singh, ADGP (Security) Harmeet Singh, Principal Secretary to CM Sanjay Lohiya, IGP Hiren Nath and Commissioner & Secretary of Home Department GD Tripathi were present in the meeting.
