CM Sarbananda Sonowal recalls Vallabhbhai Patel, flags off run for unity

GUWAHATI: Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal said that the nation celebrates Rashtriya Ekta Diwas in recognition of the unparallel service rendered by Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel towards national unity, integrity, and security.

Sharing his thoughts while flagging off a run for unity on the occasion of Rashtriya Ekta Diwas organized by General Administration in association with Kamrup Metropolitan District Administration at Nehru Stadium here on Thursday, Chief Minister Sonowal said that moved by the ideals of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel and his principle of unity, everybody should join hands to build a stronger nation. Stating that motivated by Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel’s ideology, Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the last five years has been working for Ek Bharat Shrestha Bharat. Because of the robust steps taken by Prime Minister Modi, the Rs 700 crore people around the globe realized the inherent qualities of India. Sardar Ballab Bhai Patel made the foundation of united India very strong, Sonowal added.

Chief Minister Sonowal himself participated in the Run for Unity from Nehru Stadium to Latasil Playground. As a part of the Run for Unity, personalities like film star Jatin Bora, former footballers Gilbertson Sangma, Jewel Be, renowned athlete Tayabun Nesa, Kushan Lahon, renowned arm wrestler Kalpana Choudhury, former international swimmer Alvis Ali Hazarika, renowned archer Pratibha Boro were felicitated.

MLA Prasanta Phukan, Chief Minister’s Legal Adviser SantanuBharali, Member Secretary State Level Advisory Committee for Sports and Youth Welfare LakhyaKonwar, Deputy Commissioner Kamrup Metro Biswajit Peguand a host of other dignitaries were present on the occasion.

Later, Sonowal attended a pledge taking ceremony on the occasion of Rashtriya Ekta Diwas and administered pledge to the employees and officers of Janata Bhawan, a press release said.
