CM Sarbananda Sonowal thanks people for celebrating Republic Day
GUWAHATI: Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal expressed his gratitude to all sections of the people of Assam irrespective of all caste, creed, class and religion for their participation in the 71st Republic Day of the nation.
Chief Minister Sonowal said that the spontaneous participation of the people of Assam in the celebrations of the Republic Day is a testimony of the people’s deep faith in the democratic process of the country. Participating in the Republic Day celebrations at Shraddhanjali Kanan here on Sunday and leading the state in paying rich tributes to the martyrs of the freedom struggle, Chief Minister Sonowal said that the freedom movement which was led by father of the nation Mahatma Gandhi was a non-violent struggle on which the philosophy of the country hinges upon.
Sonowal also said that Republic Day is an auspicious occasion and on this day everybody should take a pledge to work more to make the country stronger. He also said that in order to make Assam more vibrant, people of the state cutting across all caste, creed and ethnicity should work unitedly to sustain the age old friendship and camaraderie which made the state unique.
