GUWAHATI: The members of Block Congress Committees from Dispur, Beltola, Noonmati, Dimoria and Chandrapur have expressed their disappointment over the decision of the party leadership to give the ticket of Dispur Constituency to Anchalik Gana Morcha (AGM).
Addressing the media, Dispur Block president Dimbeswar Nath said, "We will never accept the AGM in our constituency. We appeal to the Congress to give ticket to a candidate who belongs from the party itself."
Further, questioning the leaders of the Congress, Nath said, "Why an important constituency like Dispur has been handed over to the AGM which is an experience-less party? The AGM is not familiar with the background of the Congress."
Nath appealed to the Congress leadership to nominate Akon Bora for Dispur Constituency.
"We don't have any problem if the party ticket is given to another member of the Congress. But we will not allow the AGM to win in this constituency. If necessary we will do mass resignations if the situation remains the same," Nath added.
