GUWAHATI: Congress Lok Sabha poll candidate for Guwahati seat Bobbeeta Sharma who along with her close association with the cultural world, has always been observed as a rooted, mature person, one that the state can make use of. To mitigate a whole lot of problems afflicting the constituency, she opts to lay more importance on boosting the economy.

Speaking to the Sentinel on Saturday, Sharma said, “Looking at the bright side of things, we have tremendous possibilities in the field of tourism. That is a sector which if tapped now will yield huge benefits for the state and to boost it, every possible action should be initiated.”

“We have a huge resource trapped in our youths. These young minds should be groomed and provided the right opportunities if we want our state to grow”, Sharma said. “If I come out as winner, I will see to it that besides overseeing the adequate growth of the city, I tackle the crisis afflicting the people residing in it. Guwahati has many problems; drinking water crisis is one of the foremost that need immediate attention. Many homes in this city have to buy water for consumption. When BJP government came into power, they claimed to resolve the problem which incidentally has never been done so. Another crisis is that of the flash floods. I have been clamoring about it since a long time that our hill needs to be protected. Plantations projects in hills needs to be carried out to control erosion. Till this is not done, we will continue facing flash floods and erosion and I will see to it that this is processed.”

Speaking about the security and safety of women Sharma stated that adequate measures will be taken up ensure complete protection of the women of the city. However, the paramount problem that reigns the city is economy spiraling out of control, “When BJP came into power, our Prime Minister Modi promised Acche Din, which never came but deteriorated in turn. The price of gas cylinders has reached an all time high. The middle class families have it the hardest because along with oil, petrol and diesel, even price of food has increased. But our party president Rahul Gandhi has declared a beneficiary scheme which will be revolutionary in itself. It will help the people in a way that is most effective. BJP government has always worked as an opposition and is not well adapted in budget planning which our government has mastered. As such, the people of the city can look forward to new changes and developments if I come out winner”, Sharma asserted.
