Congress In Challo-Panchayat Drive To Expose Centre

GUWAHATI: The Congress has given its clarion call – Challo Panchayat – to its members and cadres in protest against the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill, 2019, Rafale deal and the plight of farmers and laborers.

The agitational programme was launched by AICC leader Krishna Allavaru, Dr. Smruti Ranjan, APCC president Ripun Bora and CLP leader Debabrata Saikia at Rajiv Bhawan in Guwahati on Friday. The programme is to be carried out till the Lok Sabha poll by the Assam Pradesh Youth Congress (APYC).

Through this agitation, the APYC is going to raise as many as three issues, including the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill, 2019, before the BJP-led NDA government at the Centre. The three queries, which the APYC is going to appeal to rural people of the State to ask BJP leaders, are – (i) why have you supported the Citizenship Bill by coming to power with the trump card of jaat, maati and bheti? (ii) Asking Prime Minister Narendra Modi as to how many Bangladeshis have left Assam after the BJP government coming to power in 2014 as promised by him in the run-up to the Lok Sabha. (iii) If they had the hidden agenda of passing the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill, 2019, why have they spent crores of rupees in the name of NRC update?

Back to uses related to Assam and other States in the region, the APYC is going to appeal to the rural people to ask BJP leaders – (i) why has the BJP government at the Centre stripped the north-eastern states of special status, despite naming it Asthalakshmi? (ii) Why has Prime Minister Narendra Modi discarded the Industrial Promotion Policy of Assam adopted by former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh? (iii) Why has the government closed HPC mills at Jagiroad and Panchgram in Cachar, instead of setting up new industries in the State? (iv) Why has the government auctioned the oil fields of Assam? (v) If the Prime Minister is watchman or shareholder in the Rafale deal? (vi) What’s the outcome of the promise of providing jobs to two crore youths of the country every year? (vii) Has any black money returned to the country? The APYC has also prepared a demand note each for farmers and laborers with a plea to both the sections to respond to the APYC through miscalls for getting Krishak Shakti and Shramik Daabi Cards from the APYC.
