GUWAHATI: APCC (Assam Pradesh Congress Committee) president Ripun Bora on Friday stressed that the Congress party will focus to solve the 'five major issues' of the State if it comes to power in 2021 elections. He said the party has taken recommendations from various economists and has prepared a plan to solve them.

His statement came while addressing an interactive session with mediapersons here on Friday.

Highlighting the first issue of deplorable economic condition of the people, he said the party will provide Rs 7,500 per month to every BPL (Below Poverty Line) family.

Bora said the amount will be given under the Congress' NYAY (Nyuntam Aay Yojana) scheme and will be directly transferred to the account of the beneficiaries.

The families will receive the amount until they are developed to APL (Above Poverty Line).

Bora said the second issue is to waive off the loans take by families from microfinance companies. Similarly, the agricultural loans taken by the farmers will also be waived off, he said.

"In all the Congress-ruled States in the country, the agricultural loans have already been waived off," said Bora.

The leader said that to tackle the 'fourth issue', the party will give free electricity till 120 units for every middle class and lower middle class family

Bora said the fifth major issue it the rising unemployment crisis in the State which has increased post lockdown.

"When the BJP-led government came to power it promised to establish 25 lakh unemployed people. Prime Minister Narendra Modi had promised to provide 2 crore jobs every year which also includes Assam. If the Congress comes to power than it will provide a job per family," claimed Bora.

Further he underlined that there are 1 lakh vacant posts in various departments of the State. He stressed that the vacant posts include around 56,000 posts for Grade III and IV employees and around 20,000 SC/ST Backlog posts.

Several senior leaders attended the interactive session which also included Congress MP Gaurav Gogoi.
