GUWAHATI: With the Lok Sabha election slated for early 2019, the think tank of the Congress under All India Congress Committee (AICC) president Rahul Gandhi has gone innovative. The party has formed the youth wing of its party forum Congress Seva Dal with the name and style – Congress Seva Dal Youth Brigade. The party has already named its Assam president.

In a significant development, the AICC has appointed Deep Bayan as the president of the Assam Pradesh Congress Committee’s (APCC) Seva Dal Youth Brigade.

According to party sources, the very objective of the formation of the youth wing of the Congress Seva Dal is to keep divisive forces in the country at bay and to promote peace and unity. According to party sources, the members of the youth wing of the Dal will go to far-flung areas in rural Assam to negate the campaign by divisive forces. The brigade is to work for strengthening unity in the country based on Gandhian values.
