GUWAHATI: After the forthcoming BTC (Bodoland Territorial Council) Election, the Congress will lose its existence in the region, said State BJP (Bharatiya Janata Party) chief spokesperson Rupam Goswami.

"The Congress party is in a deplorable condition which is being witnessed by the people of the State. The party is now forced to forge alliance with the AIUDF (All India United Democratic Front) for the BTC polls. APCC president Ripun Bora with AIUDF chief BadaruddinAjmal took part in an election rally in the BTAD (Bodoland Territorial Area Districts) on Wednesday. This reveals that the party's only support for the polls is the AIUDF. It is trying to contest the elections by sitting on the lap of the AIUDF," Goswami added.

Goswami underlined that the Congress is aware that it will face the brunt of the BJP in the elections.

Ahead of the Assam Legislative Assembly Election, while the Congress is trying to forge grand alliance, the State BJP is actively participating in organizational works to strengthen the party.

Through its various organizational works, the BJP is trying to woo the voters for the forthcoming BTC and Tiwa polls parallelly.

Talking to The Sentinel, State BJP media convenor Dhurbajyoti Moral underlined that the party has 39 organizational districts, 399 mandal committees, 28,000 booth committees, 8 morchas, above three lakh press incharges and 21 departments among various other committees.

With an aim to reach voters of the grassroots, the State BJP on November 29 organized the Booth Ka Baat programme at its various booths. The party workers through the press incharges (pristhapramukh) are meeting every voter under the booths to gain political mileage. Not only within the boots but also they are also contacting voters outside the booths.

A senior party leader said, "The party has already made a schedule to hold 7,000 organizational meeting in various stages from November to January. Organizational works are underway not only in the Brahmaputra valley but also in the Barak Valley. By the end of this month, BJP office bearers' and State executive meeting will be held in the Barak Valley."
