FUNDS FROM TERROR OUTFITS
GUWAHATI: AIUDF chief and Member of Parliament (MP) Maulana Badruddin Ajmal has termed the allegations of receiving foreign funds linked with terrorist organizations by the Ajmal Foundation are nothing but a ploy to defame their good work.
State Finance Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma recently said the Union Home Ministry is conducting a high-level inquiry to probe the allegations of receiving foreign funds by Markazul Ma'arif, an NGO working under the Ajmal Foundation by violating the Foreign Contribution (Regulation) Act (FCRA), 2010.
The Assam Police has also registered a case against the NGO under FCRA violation under the sections 120B and 124A of Indian Penal Code (IPC), and section 33A/B of FCRA for suspected terror link with offshore funding sources.
"Criticism is always there whenever one tries to do good work for the society. I am not afraid of criticism and determined to carry forward my good work. Conspiracy has been hatched to defame the Ajmal Foundation's charitable and humanitarian work," Ajmal said on Monday.
