Cotton University and ASM members protest the CAB; Government determined to execute CAB

GUWAHATIA: Protests against the much controversial Citizenship Amendment Bill (CAB) do not seem to end soon. Whereas the Government is determined to implement the Bill, a maximum number of people are coming forward to oppose it. The Anchalikatabad Surakshya Manch and the students of Cotton University came forward to oppose the Bill on Wednesday with placards in their hands.

The Anchalikatabad Surakshya Manch (ASM) took out a sit-in-demonstration programme at Guwahati Club. The Manch mentioned government’s move to introduce CAB at the parliament as a conspiracy to destroy Assam. The Chief adviser of ASM, Arup Borbora warned the government to stay away from indulging in Anti Assam activities. The others present in the protest programme are noted writer Haidar Hussain, advocate Nekibur Zaman and some other leaders from different bodies including Udayan Gogoi, Pranab Chetiya, Sumitra Hazarika and many others.

Meanwhile the students of Cotton University also came out to oppose the bill and formed human chain in front of the university. The Ex General Secretary of Cotton University Students’ Union Pranjal Kalita said, “We’ll fight till we have our last drops of blood. We can never allow the bill to be implemented. We will never allow a single Bangladeshi to enter Assam. In case the bill gets passed in the parliament then all the students of Cotton University will come out.”
