GUWAHATI: In response to a sharp increase in COVID-19 cases in the State, authorities of the Cotton University has suspended all practical classes and examinations till January 31.

The university authorities issued a notice to this effect on Sunday and mentioned that all Under-Graduate and Post-Graduate classes, including BA Liberal Arts, will be held online with immediate effect.

However, Under-Graduate 5th Semester End-Semester examinations will be held offline as per schedule.

Hostels will be open only for Under-Graduate 5th Semester examinees.

Examinees of MNDP and SNBC hostels will be provided with alternative accommodation in other hostels during the examinations.

The notice further stated: "In case examinees from outside Guwahati who are not hostel boarders fail to arrange accommodation due to COVID-19 issues, they may submit applications to the Director, Students' Welfare through respective guardians and HoD, requesting temporary hostel accommodation."

Separate examinations will be held at a suitable time for Under-Graduate 5th Semester examinees who will be under hospitalization or home isolation due to COVID-19 infection. All examinees, faculty members and staff will have to produce double vaccination certificates.

Higher Secondary will be held in online mode as per schedule, the notice stated. The notice added that fresh directives will be issued regarding holding of classes from February 1 after further evaluation of the situation in the coming days.
