GUWAHATI: The court of the special judge on Thursday granted bail to suspended Congress MLA Sherman Ali in the Chief Minister's Special Vigilance Cell case.

The CM's Special Vigilance Cell had arrested Sherman Ali for alleged embezzlment of MLA fund. The MLA was arrested under case no 2/2021 registered by the CM's Special Vigilance Cell.

Baghbor MLA Sherman Ali is in jail now for two other cases registered against him – one in Geetanagar Police Station and one in Panbazar Police Station. He has not been granted bail in these two cases. – in which he has not yet been granted bail. These cases have been registered against him for making provocative statements against the martyrs of the Assam Agitation. The APCC (Assam Pradesh Congress Committee) also suspended the Baghbor MLA Sherman Ali Ahmed from the Congress party for "repeatedly violating party discipline".
