GUWAHATI: The Kamrup (Metropolitan) District authorities have constituted 'Home Quarantine Committees' in the district to monitor the compliance of government directions for maintaining home-quarantine norms by the COVID-19 positive patients allowed for 'Home Quarantine' facility. This development is in pursuance of the Government order no. HLA.270/2020/Pt/74; Dated: 24th April, 2021.

The order states, "The Circle Officers and Officer-In-Charges of all Police Stations in the district will notify the village-wise/ward-wise/apartment-wise 'Home Quarantine Committees' immediately involving representatives from Civil and Police Administration, PRIs, Gaonburhas, Nagarik Committees, Residents Welfare Association members in respect of Apartments, retired teachers, local NGOs, and conscious Citizens among others.

"The Committees so constituted will monitor the maintenance of the 'Home Quarantine' norms by the COVID-19 positive patients during the stipulated time for 'Home Quarantine' in case-to-case basis; and, in case of violation of the 'Home Quarantine' norms, the committee will file complaints at the local Police Station. The Police Station concerned will convert the complaint into FIR and proceed with legal action against the person violating the 'Home Quarantine' norms.

"Further, if any government official is found to be violating the 'Home Quarantine' norms, the committee will intimate the matter to the district administration. The district administration will initiate departmental proceeding against such defaulter government employee", stated the order signed by Biswajit Pegu, Deputy Commissioner & Chairman of DDMA (District Disaster Management Authority), Kamrup Metropolitan District.
