COVID-19: Janata Curfew extended till 8am, 23rd March

Guwahati : In order to continue the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic, the government has, reportedly, extended the duration of the Janata Curfew till 8 am, Monday. Prime Minister Narendra Modi, on Thursday, appealed the countryman to observe a Janata Curfew(Public Curfew) on March 22, from 7am to 9pm to check the contamination of the deadly virus and break its chain. Responding to his call people across the country have observed the Public Curfew and paid gratitude to the emergency service providers who have been continuously fighting against the novel coronavirus since its outbreak in the country risking their own lives by clapping hands and clanging and beating cymbals, kettledrums etc. On the other hand, the government, realising the gravity of the prevailing situation, has extended the duration of the Curfew, which received tremendous support from people across the country. PM Modi has thanked the countryman for their support in the fight against the unprecedented menace. Meanwhile, the death toll of coronavirus positive cases in the country, on Sunday, rose to 7 as an elderly person in Gujarat lost his battle against the dreaded virus. The 68 year-old patient, reportedly, passed away on Saturday. It is to be mentioned that some state governments including the Delhi government have declared complete lock-down till March 31, 2020, boosting the fight against the pandemic.
