GUWAHATI: Assam police who have been in the forefront in the battle against Covid-19 have been hard hit by the second wave of the novel coronavirus. According to sources, 470 Assam police personnel have tested positive in the second wave of the novel coronavirus till May 13. As many as
296 have recovered from the infection while 4 personnel have lost their lives to the dreaded virus.
Since the beginning of the lockdown in March 2020, the state police force have been deployed for enforcement of movement restrictions, security of covid facilities, contact tracing efforts, facilitating movement of stranded people to their homes and ensuring smooth flow of supply chains and resources.
