GUWAHATI: The Asom Rajyik Prathamik Shikshak Sanmilani (ARPSS) on Tuesday reiterated their demand from the government to create posts for headmasters in lower primary schools. It also urged the government to rollback the decision to withdraw graduate teachers' grade pay of Rs 8,700.

With these demands, the ARPSS has been protesting for many days and to discuss its further plan of action a State executive meeting has been called on December 20.

In a statement, ARPSS president Jibon Chandra Bora and secretary general Ratul Chandra Goswami underlined that on December 30, 2019 the Chief Minister ordered the Finance and Education departments to find a solution to the problems of the teachers.

"On November 5 and November 14, 2020 the Sanmilani held talks with the Education Minister. It is the government's responsibility to implement the resolutions that were taken during the meeting. However, the government is working at a slow pace. Similar assurances were given to us on April 3, 2016. But no work was done. We suspect that the same is going to happen and the government will again ignore our demands. Thus, in the forthcoming meeting we will make an action plan and we will not sit idle until our demands are met," said ARPSS president Jibon Chandra Bora.
