GUWAHATI: Crime Branch, Guwahati Police has intensified the search for the seven-month-old infant who went missing from the paediatric ward in Gauhati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) on April 13.

The child, identified as Priyam Kalita, was admitted to GMCH on March 24 with fever and anemia and was diagnosed to be a case of Bilateral Hydroureteronephrosis with cystitis. On April 13, the father gave the child to an unknown lady for consoling the child as he was crying and both the parents fell asleep. Later, when they woke up they found that the child was missing along with the lady. Following the incident, two missing reports were filed separately by the child's father and the hospital authority at Bhangagarh police station.

Meanwhile, the name of a government nurse has come up during the course of investigation. Police sources said that the nurse is in Chennai at present. She has gone on leave from April 21. Police identified her in the CCTV footage of Chennai airport but the infant was not with her.
