Debabrata Saikia moves Upa Lokayukta on COVID kit rates

GUWAHATI: Leader of Opposition in the State Assembly Debabrata Saikia lodged a complaint with the Upa Lokayukta, Assam on purchasing of COVID-19 testing kits at rates which are higher than the cost prices of other States in the country.

Talking to the media here on Sunday, Saikia said, "In June this year I came to know through an email that the COVID-19 testing kits bought by the Uttar Pradesh government and the Assam government are of the same quality. However, the Assam government bought the testing kits at around Rs 600 more per kit than the rate paid by the Uttar Pradesh government. I've lodged the complaint and prayed for an inquiry into the matter to ascertain if the system of procurement of the kits is transparent. I've also sent the allegations levelled by the APW on the purchase of COVID-19 materials to the Upa Lokayukta."
