Decision for quota to economically weaker sections

GUWAHATI: The State Government decided to provide the benefit of ten percent reservation for the people belonging to the economically weaker sections (EWS) in the existing schemes.

Besides being economically weaker, such people should not avail themselves of benefits under the existing reservations for the Scheduled Caste, Scheduled Tribes, and Socially and Economically Backward Classes.

The Department of Personnel issued an office memorandum to this effect today.
