‘Dengue Cases on the Decline, No Deaths Reported’ - Ganesh Saikia

STAFF REPORTER

GUWAHATI: Kamrup (Metro) district has seen 21 cases of Dengue so far this year while no deaths were reported for Dengue.

Joint director of health services, Kamrup (Metro) Ganesh Saikia informed that no Chikungunya case has been reported so far. Further, officials informed that medicated mosquito nets have not been distributed this year since there has been a negligible incidence of Malaria.

“As far as Dengue is concerned, we have found 21 positive cases for Dengue in the district and no deaths,” added Saikia.

While the actual Dengue season starts from October onwards, the district health authorities have already started creating awareness among people through organized camps.

“Since in the city area only one positive case for Malaria has been found, the government has not supplied us with the nets till now since there are hardly any cases of Malaria,” informed Saikia adding that they will receive the medicated mosquito nets if the number of Malaria cases increase.
