Development attracting minorities towards BJP: Muminul Aowal

GUWAHATI: Stung with reverses in several States in recent times, the BJP in the State is seemingly putting in all efforts to gain the confidence of the minority communities. The saffron party has stated that the Congress has been using the minorities as raw materials and in the process has been keeping the minority community people away from the realm of development over the years.

The State BJP spokesperson Muminul Aowal said that after the Modi-led NDA Government came to power at the Centre, the minorities are getting attracted towards development in the true sense of the term.

In a statement, Muminul Aowal said, “The strategy of the Congress is to use the minorities in the interest of its vote bank. However, that strategy of the Congress has been totally uprooted by the BJP."

While the policy of the BJP Government is ‘Sab ka saath, sab ka vikash’, meaning welfare of all, Aowal said that the minorities have also gained from the approach adopted by the saffron party along with others.

He said that the atrocities on minorities that took place during the Congress rule have virtually disappeared after the BJP came to power. Now after the BJP came to power, the minorities feel secured, Aowal went on to add.

The State BJP spokesperson further said that the State and Central Governments have initiated quite a few schemes for the welfare of the minorities. He said that through these schemes the BJP is trying to provide what he calls ‘amrit pan’ (meaning life succor) to the minorities. He further said that it now depends on the minority people whether they prefer to take the ‘amrit pan’ or not.

Meanwhile, former State Congress leader and media adviser to then Chie Minister Tarun Gogoi, Bichitra Narayan Choudhury today joined the BJP at a function held at the BJP State headquarters at Atal Behari Vajpayee Bhawan in Guwahati. The solemn function held on the occasion was attended by State BJP president Ranjit Kr Dass, among others.
