GUWAHATI, Sept 24: The authorities have been suggested for calling explanations from four officers, including an IAS officer, in the DIPR scam concerning the massive advertisement campaign ‘Vision Assam Mission Assam’ that took place at the fag-end of the last Congress rule in the State.

The four officers are former Information and Public Relations Department (IPRD) Commissioner-Secretary LS Changsan (IAS), then IPRD Joint Director Bandana Choudhury, DIPR Joint Director Kanakeswar Borgohain and then DIPR liaison officer Manjurani Deka. It is the Chief Minister’s Vigilance Cell that has been inquiring into the scam.

Informing this of the Assembly on behalf of the IPRD Minister on Monday, State Irrigation Minister Ranjit Dutta said, while replying to a question from BJP MLA Atul Bora, that the Chief Minister’s Vigilance Cell has already registered a case in the scam. Former DIPR Ranjit Gogoi has already been arrested in the case, he said, and added that the charge-sheet against him has already been submitted. Dutta further said that there are other accused, who could not be arrested as they obtained bail from the Supreme Court. They are Rajib Bora and Anjana Bora of Brahmaputra Network, Dilip Kalita of Delta Publicity and Apurba Lahkar of M/s Pradip Advertising and Company. After the completion of the inquiry, the report will be sent to the court, he said.
