GUWAHATI: The State government is exploring the possibilities of reopening physical classes for students of standards X and XI.

In this regard, Education Minister Dr Ranuj Pegu told The Sentinel on Wednesday, "Since the COVID-19 scenario has improved as compared to the last few months, the Education department has already prepared a plan for the reopening of physical classes for the students of X and XI standards. The Cabinet is also slated to discuss this important issue tomorrow."

Mentionably, physical classes commenced for the final-year students in colleges, universities and other technical educational institutes in the early part of September. On the other hand, physical classes were kept on hold for the Class-X students since April this year due to the second wave of the pandemic in Assam.

The SEBA (Board of Secondary education Assam) has also reduced the syllabi for the students of Class-X by 40 per cent. This decision was taken as there has been no physical classes since April.
