Don’t vote for BJP, allies: Left Democratic Front, Assam (LDFA)

GUWAHATI: The Left Democratic Front, Assam (LDFA) has urged voters not to vote for the BJP and its allies in the forthcoming Panchayat elections.

Speaking about the upheaval created by the previously ruling Congress government, LDFA, a conglomerate of eleven parties minus the Congress and the BJP, said that the financial policy during the previous regime led to corruption crippling the Panchayati Raj Institution (PRI) in the State. The Front stated that it was due to the misrule of the Congress that the people of Assam voted for the BJP at the Centre and in the State. This led to a further setback to the economy of the state. The Front has accused Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal of misleading the State for the past-two-and-a-half years with false promises. Economic stability, territorial integrity, unemployment, agricultural hindrances, education and health have been grossly neglected. The Panchayat system has suffered the most at the hands of the BJP-led government. The Front has expressed its dissatisfaction at the inability of the government make decentralization of power at the Panchayat level a reality.
