Drugs peddlers arrested red-handed

Guwahati: In an operation carried out by Noonmati Police and Chandmari Police in Guwahati, a drug peddler was arrested. Police have seized a huge amount of drugs from the Narengi area on Thursday night.

They carried out the operation after getting information about the same from a reliable source. The drug peddler, Sahidul Islam was caught red-handed.

The peddler belongs to the Panjabari area of Guwahati. He has been associated with selling drugs in various areas of the city. Police seized 128 grams of drugs, along with his scooty and mobile phone. He was selling drugs in the Narengi area and was caught on the spot.

In another operation, two persons were arrested in the Chirang district of Assam for being suspected as drug peddlers. A team of Chirang police launched an operation in the late afternoon on Thursday, and caught two persons, who are suspected as drug peddlers, and seized a packet of hypnotic drugs from them. The police recovered 3496 SPSPHEN tablets, 500 Nitrazepam tablets, Indian notes of Rs. 1220, Bhutanese currency notes 1776, and two mobile handsets.
