Guwahati: The Kamrup (Metro) Deputy Commissioner on Saturday, through an order, declared dry day from December 3 to 5 and on the counting day of votes which is fixed on December 12. The order came to prevent any possible untoward incident ahead of the first phase of panchayat election to be held on December 5. All wholesale/bonded warehouses, IMFL retail shops, including clubs and spirit shops, are ordered to be kept closed during the dry period. The order also stated that “any violation of the order will attract penal action as per law”.
