Dry days declared across Kamrup (Metro) district

The district administration of Kamrup (Metro) has announced ‘Dry Days’ across the Kamrup metropolitan district.

GUWAHATI: The district administration of Kamrup (Metro) has announced 'Dry Days' across the Kamrup metropolitan district. The 'Dry Days' will commence from 6 pm on April 4 and continue till 6 pm on April 6 including the day of counting on May 2 until the process of counting is over. During this period, the distribution, possession and sale of liquor will be prohibited. All the wholesale and bonded warehouses, IMFL retail shops and country spirit shops across the district will remain closed.

Sale of liquor in hotels and clubs will also remain prohibited. Violation of the order will be dealt in stringent action as per law, stated the order.

Liquor seized : The Excise department and police have seized 2,88,086 bulk litres of liquor from different places across Kamrup (Metro) during four days from March 31 to April 3.

The approximate market value off the seized liquor of various brands amounts to Rs 5,31,49,493. The seized items include IMFL (Indian-Made Foreign Liquor), country liquor and illegal liquor, informed sources.
