Education Sector Failing to Deliver: Aaam Aaadmi Party (AAP)

Staff Reporter

GUWAHATI, Sept 14: The Assam unit of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has alleged that the Assam Government has failed to deliver in the matter of improving the education scenario in the state. Addressing a press meet in Guwahati today, the state secretary of the AAP Parag Sarma alleged that no attempt has been made by the state authorities to implement the Assam Non-Government Educational Institution (registration & management ) 2006 and 2007 Act.

Likewise, the Assam Non-Government Education Institution (regulation and fees) Bill 2018 envisaged the formation of ‘fee regulatory committee’ with a view to keeping fees in private institutions under control. However, the APP has alleged that till date the government has not initiated the needful measures for the Bill to become an Act and implement various provision enshrined therein.

He said that although a new minister took over the education department, till now he too has not initiated any measure on this front.

As of now, with a view to improving the education sector in the state, the state unit of AAP has decided to form a committee of guardians of the students to exert pressure on the government. For this purpose, the state unit of the party has called for a meeting on October 10 to form the committee.
