Efforts on to prohibit unauthorised level crossing: Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) authority

GUWAHATI: The NFR authority has been stepping up measures to prohibit unauthorised level crossing, particularly in Guwahati city.

Talking to The Sentinel on Tuesday, NFR public relation officer Nripen Bhattacharya revealed that erection of fencing at various unauthorised crossing zones is in progress. Stating that there is no unmanned level crossing points across Guwahati, Bhattacharya said, “People cross railway trek at various points like Lakhtokia, Chandmari, Kalipur, Bamunimaidam, Noonmati and near Lalit Chandra Bharali College, Maligaon in an unauthorised way.”

Notably, unauthorised street vendors, commuters have been causing a challenge to the NFR authority. Hence, to prevent probable mishaps in these places, the NFR is preparing to erect concrete wall.

Bhattacharya categorically said, “NFR authority is not responsible for the casualties occur in the unauthorised level crossing.”
