Eid-ul-Fitre celebrated in Guwahati city

GUWAHATI: With the rest of the country, Eid-ul-Fitr was celebrated in the city on Tuesday with devotion, amity and gaiety.

The State capital observed the auspicious occasion after a two-year break due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Thousands of followers of Islam thronged Eidgahs in the city to offer collective prayers. People in large numbers offered namaaz at the historic Machkhowa Eidgah on the occasion. People expressed their happiness at being able to celebrate the festival after a gap of two years and also urged countrymen to maintain peace and harmony so that a sense of brotherhood, love and camaraderie prevails in the country.

It may be mentioned that Eid celebrations were a low-key affair in the last two years owing to the Covid-19 pandemic.
