Election Commission launches cycle rally for voter awareness in Guwahati

GUWAHATI: In concert with the Election Commission of India led by Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar and Election Commissioner Anup Chandra Pandey nationally launching the Special Summary Revision-2023 from Pune to focus on Urban and Youth Apathy and Purification of Electoral Rolls, Chief Electoral Officer of Assam Nitin Khade also flagged-off a cycle rally with the theme 'Pedal for Participative Elections' here on Wednesday morning.

The rally was flagged-off from the Dispur Secretariat playground and covered the route from Dispur to Bhangagarh, Bhangagarh to Khanapara and finally from Khanapara to the starting point at Dispur. Around 400 participants from various walks of life participated in the 'Pedal for Participative Elections' rally, stated a press release.

The Chief Electoral Officer emphasized on the importance of the Special Summary Revision and that of participative and inclusive elections. A theme song made for the Special Summary Revision-2023 was also launched on the occasion.

Later in the day, Khade participated in a special session of Chunav Pathshala, which is a platform to engage the community members through interesting activities and hands-on experience to sensitize them on their electoral rights and familiarize them with the electoral process of registration and voting at Polling Stations No: 132, 133, 134 and 135 (all located at Kendriya Vidyalaya, Khanapara) under No 52 Dispur Assembly Constituency in Kamrup (M).

Khade also held a meeting with representatives of political parties in his office to emphasize on the importance of the Special Summary Revision, important dates of the SSR and publication of the Draft Electoral Roll.
