GUWAHATI: Earthful Foundation, in association with WWF-India Assam State Office, is organizing an electronic waste awareness-cum-collection drive in Guwahati from January 4-12, 2023. When electronic devices stop working, they become E-waste and add to the growing global concern.

Schools, colleges, offices, residential societies and citizens are taking part in the awareness drive and helping Earthful Foundation to channel the E-wastes to authorized recyclers.

When electronic devices stop working, they become E-waste. It is a rapidly growing global concern. E-waste also contains metals like gold, silver, copper, etc., which have economic value when recycled. Unfortunately, people throw away the majority of e-waste casually. Ragpickers break E-waste to obtain valuable components. Remaining hazardous wastes are either burnt or dumped casually, leading to a significant risk of toxic exposures to health and the environment.

The informal sector often employs children in unregulated E-waste recycling!

Pollution Control Board-authorized recyclers should dispose of E-waste in an environment-friendly manner. The E-waste awareness-cum-collection drive brings you an opportunity to dispose of unused mobile phones, laptops, TV, refrigerator, computers and any such electronic items from home or the workplace.

To get their E-waste picked up from their doorstep, organizations and individuals may call Earthful Foundation at 8104784289 or 9101290340 between 4th January and 9th January 2023. The pickup vehicle will reach the doorstep as per the appointment from 10th to 12th January 2023.
