Environment Day observed at Basistha temple

GUWAHATI, June 6: In accordance with the MoU signed between the Basistha Devalaya (Temple) Authority and Voice of Environment (VoE) on May 27, the VoE initiated the mission, ‘Clean, Eco -Friendly Plastic Free Zone’ commemorating the World Environment Day on June 5. The programme was kicked off on 10 AM to build awareness among the devotees, visitors to make Basistha Temple as ‘Clean, Eco -Friendly Plastic Free Zone.’

The day-long programme started with a distribution of saplings by environmentalist Moharana Choudhury and Minakshi Dutta who are also members of the VoE followed by plantation in the temple premise. An open public meeting was also held in presence of devotees, visitors, Pundits of the temple and vendors.
