Excise Superintendent arrested for raping minor by Dhemaji Police

GUWAHATI: Dhemaji Police on Tuesday arrested in-charge Excise Superintendent, Dhemaji, Pritam Baruah on the charge of raping a minor girl. The police handed him over to the Crime Branch, Guwahati Police.

Baruah is a resident of Rupnagar in Guwahati. The Crime Branch has registered a case against him 8/2022 u/s 354 (A)/354 (A) (I) (II) R/W Section 10 of POCSO Act. It has been alleged that Baruah is an acquaintance of the victim girl's family and taking advantage of his friendly ties with the family, he raped the 10-year-old girl.
