Explosives Recovery In Railway Raises Red Flags

GUWAHATI: Already in a sensitive state, Assam is highly agitated at the moment. The discovery of explosives has lead to further speculation among the public as to what more is in store. A train checking party of Guwahati GRPS recovered three bags containing explosive items on Monday at 5.45 am. It has raised red flags as the security officials got on high alert.

The explosives were abandoned from Platform No 3 while Up Abodh Assam express train was in the Platform in Guwahati. 440 pieces of Gelatine sticks in 22 packets, 700 pieces of Detonators in 7 packets and 3 bundles of fuse wires were found inside the bags. The bags had enough ingredients to make an explosive that could cause major destruction and wreck havoc in the state.

Stashed near a toilet of AC 2 tier coach in the same Up Abodh Assam express train, another bag was recovered. The discovery was made by Jagirod GRP-OP staff, who reported an unclaimed bag. It contained some more explosives, precisely 160 pieces of Gelatine sticks in 8 packets and 500 pieces Detonators in 5 packets. Quick action and timely discovery was commended, as supposed future devastation was curbed. All the items are seized while a case is being registered in this regard.
