Exposure visit to IIT Guwahati under project JIGYASA

GUWAHATI: Based on the objectives of NEP-2020, the Centre of Research and Excellence for Advanced Technology in Education (CREATE) -UNISED, in collaboration with IIT Guwahati's Research Park & North East Centre for Biological Sciences & Healthcare Engineering (NECBH), IIT Guwahati and Samagra Shiksha, Arunachal Pradesh, organized an Exposure Visit-cum-Capacity Building Programme under Project JIGYASA at IIT Guwahati for Government school teachers of Arunachal Pradesh from March 8 to March 11.

According to a press release, under the Project JIGYASA, 200 Government schools in Arunachal Pradesh have been provided with the Solar Energy Operated Smart Classes, joyful animated e-contents for encouraging children in exploration, discovery and innovation in the light of the objectives of Rashtriya Avishkar Abhiyan (RAA) and Samagra Shiksha.

The innovative and integrated programme was conducted with the guidance of Prof TG Sitharam, Director of IIT Guwahati. The programme was inaugurated by Prof Shashindra Kumar Kakoty, Deputy Director, IIT Guwahati along with Avaneesh Tripathi, National Programme Advisor, Rashtriya Avishkar Abhiyan and Policy Advisor to Government of India and other dignitaries and participants of Arunachal Pradesh.

Prof Sashindra Kumar Kakoty highlighted the technological importance of collaboration with IIT Guwahati and its utility for schools. Avaneesh Tripathi emphasized the linkage of innovations with life skills under Rashtriya Avishkar Abhiyan Programme and other national initiatives. According to him, innovation needs integration and integration leads to skilling and nation building. Prof G Krishnamoorthy, Dean (II & SI, Prof In-Charge, Research Park, IIT Guwahati), highlighted on mentoring, monitoring and Role of HEIs in Innovative and Joyful Learning. Prof Gopal Das, HoD Chemistry, IIT Guwahati and Prof Saurabh Basu took the technical sessions on different contexts of Innovation and Joyful Learning. Dr Letha Rammohan, Chief Consultant, TSG-MoE and Dr RN Lenka, CEO & Director (Pedagogy, Research & Innovation, CREATE-UNISED) reflected upon the pedagogical perspectives of the programme. Rajiv Lomdak, SPC, Samagra Shiksha, Arunachal Pradesh recapitulated the sessions along with vote of thanks by Kumari Nidhi Singh. Among others, the event was attended by Aayush, Anurag, Arvind and Pooja. The programme ended with exposure visit to departments, labs and resource centres of IIT Guwahati.
