Fake currency racket busted by Crime Branch in Six Mile, Guwahati

GUWAHATI: Based on information about fake currency and a machine to produce copies of fake currency in the Six Mile area by persons of Bangalmara, Lakhimpur a team of Crime Branch, Guwahati along with staff of Dispur Police Station searched a rented apartment at Fakruddin Ali Ahmed path here on Sunday.

During the operation, four persons were apprehended and several other items were seized.

The accused have been identified as Nijam Uddin, Hamid Ali, Najrul Hussain, and Afzalur Rahman. All are from Bangalmara. The teams have seized 14 mobile phones, one laptop, 21 bundles of Rs 500 notes suspected to be fake, a machine suspected to be used for making the fake currency, and other incriminating materials including ATM cards etc. The further investigation is on.
